How fast can a hippo run?

20 October 2008

Funny, amusing, witty and downright weird are the only way to describe some recent queries sent to bespoke SMS answer service 199QUERY.

"At what temperature would a fart freeze?" winded one flatulent Sydney local (182.5 degrees Celsius below zero) and amusingly, several minutes later, "How cold is the cold side of the moon" (cold enough to freeze your behind!)

199QUERY answers 1000's of questions every day, and many of these are from curious Australians pondering about life's seemingly unsolvable. Questions are sent in via SMS to 19978379 where a team of online researchers personally answer every question.

Where computer search services would fail, these "textperts" allows 199QUERY to answer such questions with ease, "What’s the top speed of a hippopotamus?" pandered a future zoologist (50km/h).

199QUERY mainly answers factual questions about train timetables, what to have for lunch and who to eat it with (and how to turn a lunch date into a dinner one) but these ever present funnies are what makes 199QUERY unique.
